If you ever have trouble getting the motivation to get out and run – have no fear. There’s a robot for that. Now, you don’t have to be your own cheerleader. You also don’t need a human running buddy or a dog as a companion. Sentience is sooo last year. What’s in now? Drones. Specifically, jogging drones.
A research group presented findings from a study on the effect of drone jogging partners for human runners at the 2015 Computer-Human Interaction Conference in Seoul. (Yes, this is a real thing.) Developers of the drone were interested in seeing if they could create a machine that would encourage and motivate someone during a workout. They came up with a quadcopter – a drone with four rotors. It flies above the runner and has GPS and multiple sensors.
